What Are Thermal Imagers Used For?

Initially developed for the military, thermal imagers are now widely used across hunting, public services such as firefighting and policing, security services, and wildlife conservation. Thermal imaging cameras are also growing in popularity in industrial settings, improving worker safety in extreme heat situations, and in housing development, as these cameras allow surveyors to easily assess heat loss from buildings and structures.

How Do Thermal Imagers Work?

While human eyesight relies on visible light to see, thermal vision is based on infrared energy, known as a heat signature. The warmer an object is, the more infrared energy it emits. The modern thermal imager detects infrared radiation and uses computer algorithms to render the heat signature into an image on the display.

Thermal Imaging Products from Scott Country International

Thermal imaging is beneficial in many outdoor applications, as diverse as wildlife observation, wildlife surveys, hunting, pest control, security and surveillance. With thermal vision, you can see any heat source clearly when ocular visibility is low and in conditions where traditional night vision is blocked, such as poor weather or dense foliage. We stock high-quality thermal imaging cameras for UK and international clients, from trusted optics brands including Pulsar, Infiray, Zeiss and Leica.

Handheld Thermal Monoculars and Binoculars

Hand-held thermal imagers can help you follow heat signatures outdoors, whether at night, in mist or fog, or in dense vegetation. At Scott Country, we have a range of monocular and binocular thermal imagers for every budget. Some capture and store images while others send video over wifi to your cloud storage.

Thermal Vision Riflescopes

As thermal imaging specialists, we have a great range of thermal riflescopes. From brands like Vector, HikMicro and Infiray, the thermal vision provided by these scopes improves with every generation. You can be sure there are plenty of options to fit your rifle, helping you see over long distances to identify quarry, even in poor conditions.
